Here’s what Shah Rukh Khan has to say about Narendra Modi’s demonetization move

10/Nov/2016 | BollywoodHungama | BollywoodHungama news »

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a major step by banning the notes with denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. This sudden step from the government was aimed mainly to eradicate the black money and end corruption in the country. Many Bollywood celebrities including Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, Rajinikanth and others came.

Shah Rukh Khan is the king of hearts and the king of words. We all were wondering where the King Khan is when the currency ban happened. While the whole Bollywood had something or the else to say about it, Shah Rukh’s reaction was something we were waiting for. And of course, as usual, though late, but the wait was worth it. Shah Rukh Khan has finally given his reaction on the currency ban and it is on point.
SRK took to his Twitter handle and posted, “Farsighted. Extremely smart. And not politically motivated. Will bring such a positive change for Indian economy. Great move @narendramodi”
The currency ban imposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi saw the ban of notes with denominations of 500 and 1000, with immediate effect. Though inconvenient, but this one is a great move to curb corruption and the practice of black money that is gripping the Indian economy. The whole Bollywood, along with the commoners, is applauding the decision.
Now, even King Khan approves.
On work front, Shah Rukh Khan will be next seen in Gauri Shinde’s ‘Dear Zindagi’, co-starring Alia Bhatt, which will hit the theatres on December 25.

Aamir to host special screening of 'Dangal' for SRK

For Aamir, sending out public vibes that he is friends with SRK right now would help his film tremendously.

Mail Today Bureau | Posted by Arpan Rai
New Delhi, November 10, 2016 | UPDATED 08:03 IST

Aamir Khan has much at stake with his ambitious upcoming venture Dangal, and he is clearly in the mood to make new friends right now. While Bollywood's 'Mr Perfectionist' has never really been known to be close to superstar Shah Rukh Khan, it came as a pleasant surprise to many when reports started circulating that Aamir is all set to host a special screening of Dangal for SRK.

News was trending online says Aamir has plans to screen the film for SRK any time soon. Although the two Khans have not exactly been friends through most of their nearly two and half-decade career in Bollywood, they have been bonding bigtime lately.

For Aamir, sending out public vibes that he is friends with SRK right now would help his film tremendously. It would draw Shah Rukh's primary fan base to watching his film.

While on Shah Rukh, the superstar has been reeling in recent time, with his latest releases such as Fan and Dilwale failing to live up to expectation at the box-office. Adding a few powerful friends among peers would naturally help.

If SRK now attends a special screening of an Aamir film, it would alter the power equations in Bollywood. Aamir has been closer to Salman Khan, who was SRK's bitter rival till not long ago. May be, the rise of younger stars has made the Khans realise this is the time to stick close to each other and pool in a consecrated fan base.

Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is Bollywood’s King of Romance today but all those years back, he was just a guy from Delhi trying to make it big in Mumbai. And even today, there is a part of SRK who identifies with being a newcomer.

Talking at the launch of his biography, the actor said, “An actor is just like water… he should just adapt the colour and shape. I believe the art is important, the artist is not. The art remains and not the artist and as an actor, I feel if I think like that I can work with some amount of purity. The purity will be retained if I believe that my art is important than myself.”
Shah Rukh Khan was speaking at an event to launch a biography on him by “Kuchh Meetha Ho Jaye” director Samar Khan. The actor also took to Twitter to thank Samar and how his son AbRam loved the launch. “Thk u @samarmumbaikhan this is so special. The book is lovely & my lil 1 is happy to c so many papas #25yearsofalife,” he wrote.

Talking about his journey, SRK wrote, “25 years in the film industry was a big dream for a boy who came from Delhi all those years ago. These years have been full of excitement, hard work and various ups and downs and this book is a tribute to all these filmmakers who believed in me and my dreams. I am extremely thankful to all my fans who have made me who I am today.”

Recalling his initial days, he said: “I was an odd-looking guy, I was not from a film background, I spoke too fast but I am thankful all the filmmakers and those friends who gave me an opportunity. So for me if a newcomer comes I have been trained by people like these to respect the newcomer and love them.”

Shah Rukh also revealed that being the star, the choice of roles being offered to him get limited. “Sometimes it’s awkward… today being in this position, the choices are less. I meet many directors but it goes out of hand sometimes. Despite spending 25 years, I still feel like a newcomer. I find it awkward I have spent 25 years but I still feel like a newcomer.”

Titled “25 years of a Life”, the book captures interesting incidents from King Khan’s successful journey in the industry. Each of its 30 chapters are a director’s take on a particular character created by them and portrayed by SRK. Samar Khan said: “This book was the perfect chance for me to tell the SRK story from a different lens. I would like to thank everyone involved who has made this dream project a reality.”

Aditya Chopra Makes Surprising Revelations About SRK's Bollywood Journey & They Are A Must Read

Isha Sharma
November 8, 2016

The book has a segment by Aditya Chopra who definitely has a major role in shaping up Shah Rukh Khan's career.

Mohabbatein and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Three movies mean three characters and three stories. But in my head, all three stories are actually one person’s story"

The excerpts from Aditya Chopra's conversation with Samar have been published by DNA. Read more here.
1.“I’ve made three movies with Shah Rukh — Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, After making a documentary on Shah Rukh Khan's life called Living  With A Superstar, writer and filmmaker Samar Khan now is all set to launch a book on  King Khan's life. The book will unfold phases of Shah Rukh Khan's life and it is called SRK: 25 Years of A Life. The book will also unfold SRK's relationship with all his directors and all the iconic roles that he has played.

2. "Just like the character of Raj, my relationship with Shah Rukh has also evolved over the last two decades. When we cast him for Darr, to be honest, neither dad, nor I really liked him. Neither of us were very impressed but somehow, maybe because everyone kept rejecting the negative part, we ended up signing him."

3. "Our first shot with him was the Holi song. I think that very day itself, I knew that this man was going to be a superstar. He had a strange kind of madness in his eyes that was very exciting."

4. "We became casual friends, but it wasn’t like we were so pally that I’d hang out with him over a beer. When I decided to make my DDLJ, I knew I had to have Shah Rukh."

5. "Over the years, as a producer, a director, and a friend, I have seen Shah Rukh perform multiple characters and portray all kinds of emotions."

6. "I’ve always felt, and still feel that Shah Rukh doesn’t laugh whole-heartedly.His laughter never reaches his eyes. Somehow, it’s always a bit hollow, a bit fake.  I think that maybe that has something to do with the fact that he lost his parents very early in life. I don’t think he ever got over that loss."

7. "As an actor, I think he is the best actor in the whole world and that we’ve seen only 10 per cent of his talent. That 90 per cent is still to come and blow us away!"

8. "l hope I can give him roles that tell the world, You’ve seen Shah Rukh the superstar, now see Shah Rukh the actor.”

Kaabil to not clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees?

Source: DECCAN CHRONICLE.
Published Sep 10, 2016, 12:42 am ISTUpdated Sep 10, 2016, 8:43 am IST
Rakesh is planning to shift the release date of Kaabil now, says a close source.
In the tussle between Raees and Kaabil, it looks like the latter will blink first. Not too long after the makers of Raees had announced earlier this year that they intended to release the movie on January 26, 2017, the makers of Kaabil too had announced their arrival by launching the first look of their film. It now looks like Rakesh Roshan is in two minds about releasing Kaabil against Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees.

It was learned that in order to avoid any ill will, SRK had apparently met Hrithik to discuss if Kaabil’s release date could be shifted to make way for Raees. However, Hrithik informed him that it was his father Rakesh, and director, Sanjay Gupta’s call. Later, SRK called Rakesh with the same request, but the filmmaker flat out refused to shift the release date, as it had already been announced much earlier.

Latest we hear now is that after the debacle of Hrithik’s last outing, Mohenjo Daro, which clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom last month, Rakesh is reconsidering a spar with Raees. A source close to the producer confirmed the news and said, “Rakesh is planning to shift the release date of Kaabil now.”

However, when contacted, Sanjay denied the news and said, “Absolutely no change whatsoever. Kaabil releases on January 26, 2017.”

Shah Rukh Khan just APOLOGISED to Preity Zinta – find out why!

Shah Rukh Khan is very humble that way.If he knows he’s done something wrong, he’ll be the first one to own up for his mistake. But little did we expect he will actually put in extra efforts and make a whole damn video to apologise to Preity Zinta. Yes! This happened! SRK just tweeted a video with a caption saying, “Sorry realpreityzinta. With corrected credits. Thanks.”

Confused? Wondering what are we talking about? Well, it’s coming from his#18yearsofDilSe special video! So if you noticed, SRK  mentioned everyone’s names right from Manisha Koirala to Farha thanking them for making this film so cherishable but surprisingly he forgot Preity. The video had no trace of Preity’s mention. But before things could get any worse and PZ fans could troll him, SRK has shared this another version of the same video, this time with the mention of Preity Zinta’s namein bold highlights. I mean, what a sweetheart he be?

This only proves the kind of human being he is. Just can’t ever offend anyone. Oh! We’re sure Preity too is going to love this gesture from SRK and might soon tweet back to him with warm hugs and kisses. In fact, Preity just put up a collage of Dil Se memories with an adorable caption saying, “#18yearsof_เคฆिเคฒ_เคฏेThis is how it all started & I cannot thank @iamsrk @mkoirala& #Manisir enough!#criminalpsychologytomoovies #destiny.”

US Airport Authority Should watch DDLJ. SRK detained once again at Loss Angeles.

Dear America, even Barack Obama knows SRK, stop racially profiling him

Dear America, to racially profile a person like Shah Rukh Khan -- not once, not twice but thrice -- reeks of arrogance on your part.

His face can launch a million brands across the globe. He was the only actor whose name was used by Barack Obama in his speech while in India. And only three English alphabets are needed to describe him, SRK. Yet America chooses to racially profile Mr. Khan by unnecessarily detaining him every time he steps his foot there.

Dear America, I am not seeking preferential treatment for an Indian VIP but demanding you to extend SRK the same ordinary courtesy that you reserve for passengers with a non-Muslim surname. To racially profile a person like Shah Rukh Khan — not once, not twice but thrice — reeks of arrogance on your part. Either that or you are just innocently ignorant about SRK despite the actor’s legendary popularity in your holier than thou land. I’m inclined to believe it is the former that makes you detain King Khan time and again.
Is it too difficult to recognise a man whose famous film dialogue your own President eloquently quoted in his speech while touring India? Maybe you are not interested in your President’s speeches so I will give you the benefit of doubt in this case. What about him being the second richest actor in the world? Perhaps the American airport officials are living under a rock. So let’s overlook that too. From under that rock, we are sure you use Facebook and Twitter.
A mere mention of SRK on these microblogging sites will throw up thousands of SRK fan club. Not to mention, the man himself commands 20.7 million followers on Twitter while Oscar winner Leonardo Di Caprio has only 13 million. Now you may say that we are the second most populous nation and hence the followers. Let’s chuck that out too. What about your own home-grown Los Angeles Times writing SRK is the world’s biggest movie superstar? Yeah well they always write that to sell their wares. Big deal, no? (Shah Rukh Khan accepts US envoys’ apologies, says ‘respects protocol but it’s inconvenient’)
Let’s look at some facts that I have pulled out from your own Google about SRK for your benefit.
Shah Rukh Khan has been conferred with top French civilian award – Knight of the Legion of Honor.
He has been conferred the honour of Datuk, a Malaysian honour equivalent to British knighthood. (Enough is enough, Shah Rukh Khan should stop flying to the US) The University of Edinburgh has conferred him with a honorary doctorate.
He is the only movie star whose presence in the Gulf region can bring traffic to a standstill.
When he made a quick stopover at Google’s headquarter in your land, he had a jam-packed audience listening to him in rapt attention. (Shah Rukh Khan detained at US airport again, tweets ‘every damn time’)
When Apple’s Ceo Tim Cook was in India, it was at SRK’s sea facing home that he preferred to wine, dine and let his hair down.
Owing to the paucity of time, we will stop here but the next time SRK arrives in the USA, dear American airport officials please remember his last name is Khan and he is not a terrorist!

Shah Rukh Khan to replace Ranveer Singh in Padmavati

Shah Rukh Khan to replace Ranveer Singh in Padmavati ?

By Bollywood Hungama News Network, August 10, 2016 - 18:38 hrs IST#

While speculations have been rife about Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone reuniting for yet another period drama Padmavati, fans of the couple will have to wait for the same as now we hear that the actor has walked out of the project. On the other hand, makers have apparently now approached none other than Shah Rukh Khan for the film.

Sources claim that the script of Padmavati which revolves around a beautiful queen was posed to be a two hero project and Ranveer Singh, who swept away all awards last year, wasn't keen on doing the same at this point of his career. Due to this, Sanjay Leela Bhansali who has given one of the biggest blockbusters of his career with Devdas, decided to reunite with the actor of that film and approached Shah Rukh Khan for the film. A source close to the project mentioned that Shah Rukh not only loved the script but has even decided to give a look test for the film.

On the other hand, rumours have it that Shahid Kapoor has been signed on for the role of Deepika's husband in the film. Padmavati traces the journey of a beautiful queen Rani Padmini who becomes the obsession of Allauddin Khilji and the ruler is ready to go to any extent to get the queen, even if it means waging a war against her husband, Raja Ratan Singh.

Only Shahrukh Khan makes Reliance Gio different than other 4Gs.

Shah Rukh Khan snapped with his little fans during Reliance Gio ad shoot yesterday.

With all the telecom companies launching their 4G network in the country, Reliance seems to be no different. Reliance has opened it’s venture Jio which is a telecom venture that will launch the company’s 4G network.

Shah Rukh Khan has been chosen as the brand ambassador for the Reliance Jio and the choice seems to be apt. The company which will launchit’s 4G network in a couple of weeks is actually the brain child of his children, all of whom are close to Shah Rukh. Asit’s brand ambassador, Shah Rukh Khan was recently spotted shooting for an ad sequence for the company. Seeing Shah Rukh shooting, his fans will obviously rush to him to have a sneak peek of the actor and if the fans are this adorable, they get much more than a mere sneak peak.

While shooting for the advertisement, Shah Rukh spotted these little munchkins on the sets who were his fans and wanted to meet him. The actor then went himself towards them and got his pictures clicked together with them. That’s King Khan’s adorable way of saying he loves hisfans too and this is the reason why we love him.You can see the smile on the kids’ faces as they meet the superstar and their joy seems to have no bounds. The Chennai Express star too looked pleased after meeting his most lovable fans.

Exclusive update about ShahrukhKhan's Raees distributionship

Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees to be Distributed by Anil Thadani.

The All India Distribution Rights have been sold to Anil Thadani on commission basis which means no outright sale.

A source within the trade have reiterated and confirmed that Raees is releasing on 26th January 2017 alongside Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil. No postponement from either of them as of now and it is unlikely that the there will be a change inthe dates.

Anil Thadani is the one of the most renowned Solo Distributors (Non – Corporate) in India. He is a trade veteran. He is a highly respectable figure in the trade because of his business acumen. He has distributed lot of films for Dharma as well as T-Series. The Overseas Distribution deal of Raees hasn’t been locked yet although in all likelihood, it would be either Eros or Disney-UTV (Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale was Distributed by Disney in the Overseas markets).

A month back, Shah Rukh Khan had interacted with the media on occassion of Eid. The superstar while speaking with the media revealed that Raees got pushed to January as a few sequences are yet to be shot. Khan also revealedthat clashing with Sultan made no sense. He said,

“Raees got postponed because of two reasons. One of the major reason is that it is practically not possible for two big films to clash on the same day and secondly, I got injured while shooting for the film. We are still left to shoot a few portions of the film. I am yet to give the final shot as well.”

The Theatrical Trailer of the film is expected to be out with Dear Zindagi.

Raees stars Shah Rukh Khan, Mahira Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and it has been directed by Rahul Dholakia where as the film has been produced by Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akthar and Riteish Sidhwani.  The film is slated to release in the Republic Day Weekend (26th January 2017).

Now, I love Shah Rukh, so much of who I am today is thanks to him

Karan Affairs: Where's SRK? Hi Koffee. Things People Keep Saying To Me.

Say when you're taking a flight, someone will come up to you, in the aisle of the actual aircraft, and ask: "Oh, going to Delhi?" No, no, they're going to drop me off in Rajasthan. I am on the same flight as you! Your boarding pass actually spells out the destination! Where else would I go? Unless the pilot is making an unscheduled stop and you (we all!) better hope that doesn't happen!
There's always someone who will cheerfully (and in genuine hope of an answer) ask "Come to see a movie??" It will be inside the hall as I take my seat but, no, of course, I came because I am obsessed with the popcorn vendor here.

Or when I'm running to catch a flight and someone wants a selfie, so I say "Please, very quickly" and then they're all "Oh. You're not so friendly as you seem on your shows. There, toh, you're very nice." Yes, of course I should stop and do a round of rapid fire with the final boarding call chiming. It'll be fun!

"Hi Koffee" is the other thing they say. You do understand I'm not a cappuccino, right?

I'm a proud filmmaker, but everyone seems to have forgotten that. You're introduced and someone will say "Arrey!Karan Johar! He does talk shows! He's judge!" And now my filmmaking has been lost, all my other accomplishments forgotten. Because I am "judge". "Haan, see, see, beta, he's Koffee, Koffee..." Really, I'm not a beverage. Promise.

Someone has come and asked me if I am Raj Kumar Santoshi. (It was in 2001 but still.)
I always have people peering over my shoulder and saying, "Oh! Where's Shah Rukh?" Now, I love Shah Rukh, he is more than family to me, so much of who I am today is thanks to him, but we are not together all the time and everywhere! He is (alas) not my conjoined twin. Sometimes I get frantic peering and then, "Where's he?" Who ishe?? And then "No stars with you?" With expressions of deep reproach and disappointment. I'm not a walking fleet of vanity vans any more than I'm a walking, talking multi-star cast. I might want an entourage, but so far it is entirely eluding me. I remain (for the moment anyway) a simple human being.

Then they'll just say "Jhalak Dikhla Jaa"and I'm not entirely sure if it's instruction or acknowledgement. I remember there was a time when people would see me and say "K3G" or"Kuch Kuch Hota Hai." Good times. Now"Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" is a forgotten memory or a result of my own activities where I've managed to make people forget that I actually make movies! (Mind you, some people do come up and ask me about 3KG. That's right. I thought I had a heavyweight cast but now realize they were only 3KG!)

And so, while I am often frustrated, permanently exasperated, sick of forcing that polite smile, I have to confess that I do things like this too.

When you put two people who don't know each other in a unexpected encounter, they will inevitably say something strange - either inappropriate or inane. When I remember my chance meetings with, say, Hollywood movie stars, the first thing I've said has always been random. "Visiting for a while?" or "Visiting Bombay for the first time?" It's an opener, yes, but a flat one, and one that frankly should be beneath me. You don't care whether they've visited before or plan to again. And they don't want to repeat it for the 500th time. It's the polite conversation opener that's bland but bearable.

I've had the unbearable as well.

I met Hugh Jackman and I was like "I love your movies!" And, of course, he asked: which one? A reasonable question but I blanked completely. In that moment, I couldn't remember a single film that Hugh Jackman had done. So I copped out. "The recent one!" And that was one of his biggest disasters. Well done, me.

Then when I met Will Smith and I said "where there's a will, there's a way!" I was so delighted with my joke but he didn't get it. We were at this Bollywood party and he was saying he didn't know anyone, so I proudly trotted out what I thought was the perfect response: Where there's a Will, there's a way! (It's good, right?) But he didn't get it. He didn't get my joke and I died, I crumbled into my core. I thought it was the line of the century and it fell flat and when your joke falls flat with someone like this, it is heartbreaking.

Or when I meet politicians? That's the worst. I once asked a politician "How's India doing?"

What does that even mean? "How are things in India?" I mean, I actually live here. I know this. I also know there is no answer to it. How could I ask, how dare I ask and how can anyone even attempt to answer? But the politician did. And the fact that he did was almost as strange as my asking the question!

And in return, they will ask you "How are things in the movie industry?' and I'm thinking to myself: thanks to you, very bad! The bubble in my head is angry. I want to say: thanks for nothing. Things are NOT great. We have been given industry status but still have to go banging on ministry doors. Our popularity is leveraged when required but we get little to nothing in return! And what I actually say is "Good! Some up some down." Once I even responded saying "Just like my movie.... Kabhi Khushi, Kabhie Gham". To my shame, with a jolly chuckle attached.

My other problem is trying to sound too clever. Like "Break a leg, just not yours!" And then I will invariably find myself saying this to a sportsperson. Who I definitely should not be saying it to. Just the other day, I met a world-famous tennis player just before a match and said exactly that. Again.

Then there's all those times when I meet someone and they look like they're pregnant and I don't know what to do. Do I say it or do I not? My solution is to brightly exclaim "So! Tired, are we?" Tired has become my equivalent of "are you pregnant?" It's pathetic, it's a cop-out, but still an improvement on "You put on?" This is the worst. The absolute worst. Especially since they don't actually bother articulating the word 'weight', instead they use sweeping arm movements to indicate the dimensions I have clearly reached in their eyes. "You put on?" And, by the way, this comes from random strangers who clearly have no qualms about telling me they think I'm awfully overweight. In their defense, they probably don't know about the sleepless night (ok week, but who's counting) that will accompany it.

On the other hand, I will always overcompensate. Like when I have to call someone about work, the first two-three lines must be polite (subtext: inane) conversation. "So been busy?" "All good" and before I get down to "achcha listen..." I'm so envious of those people who pick up the phone and can just say "Ya, tell me" as soon as you say hello. I can't do that. I wish I could (it's so much more efficient) but even when I'm the one being called, I feel obliged to make three minutes of inane conversation till they get to their point. I feel it's rude for me to not sound welcoming. It's a disorder, I am aware. And it extends to the world of texting (and alright, sexting too!). I simply can't do one-word message replies: Yes. Ok. No. Sure. Cool. None of these are options for me. I must write something extra. Something personal. I put kisses and emoticons. Emoticons by the way are my very best friends. They have removed all the pressure of thinking up something personal to say. I love them. Kiss kiss kiss. Hug hug hug. Wink is my flirting emoji. Smile is my I-don't-know-what-else-to-say emoji. Hug is my end-of-conversation emoji. Kiss is my even-if-it's-one-word-i-mean-it-with-love emoji.

So why am I writing about this? To say to the legions out there that your awkwardness is my awkwardness too. (Side bar: it will never be cool to call someone just "Koffee" but the rest, at least, I get.) And to those fighting the good fight against inanities: your time will come. We are trying too. And sometimes, we manage to teach ourselves our own lessons too.

Like that time I was rushing down a London sidewalk and I saw a couple really excited with a camera in their hands and I was (once again) like "Please, very quickly!". And they very quickly handed me the camera and very quickly posed themselves into the perfect picture.

Inspired by Zayn Malik, Shah Rukh Khan writes a wonderful poem on..Inspired by Zayn Malik, Shah Rukh Khan writes a wonderful poem on Women Empowerment, and its absolutely worth a read!!

King Khan who yesterday attended a launch event of debutante author Gunjan Jain’s book ” She Walks, she leads” , which is based on woman empowerment.

Shah Rukh Khan, who is always a pleasure to hear, gave his insight upon trailblazing women. He made a wonderful speech about the positive influence of women in his life.

SRK was quoted saying that “There was an amazing quote about girls that I read, by Zayn Malik, when I met him in London. And inspired by his thoughts and his writing, I penned a poem,” .

He then went on to recite his wonderful poem which surely touched our heart .
๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€๐ŸŽ€
This is for girls who stay up all night,
This is for you who are willing to fight,
For hidden fears,
Hurt, pain, and tears,
Under the smiles, laughs, and giggles we hear.
Let your hair down, straight or curls,
You’re beautiful because you fight like a girl.
For girls who wears short skirts,
And their heart on their sleeve,
For girls who know how difficult,
It is to believe,
The girls who scream and cry,
Into their pillows and tell them their goals,
For girls who have a secret,
But can’t tell a soul.
Let your eyes be your diamond,
Make them your pearls,
You’re beautiful because you fight like a girl.
For girls who have made mistakes,
And have regrets galore,
Because you fight like a girl.
For the girls who love with all their heart,
Although it sometimes gets broke,
To who think it’s over,
To real girls, to all girls,
Who have tears to soak.
You throw, you pick up, and fall,
But just tell the world,
“I’m beautiful,
Because I fight like a girl.”

Online fan armies turn passion into power : World's biggest Fan Club run by a Fan of SRK the King Khan

Spread across 35 countries, SRK’s digital admirers spend a lot of time and money promoting his films. Other stars too are relying on this unofficial PR machinery to boost their brand value, writes Mohini Chaudhuri
Spread across 35 countries, SRK's digital admirers spend a lot of time and money promoting his films. Other stars too are relying on this unofficial PR machinery to boost their brand value, writes Mohini Chaudhuri

Ahead of the release of Fan, Shah Rukh Khan was busy making TV appearances and giving interviews to market his movie. Far away from Mumbai, Muhammad Ashraf, 36, was also hard at work promoting the Yash Raj film. By day, Ashraf is HR head of a business conglomerate in Maldvies, but in cyberspace he's hailed as the founder of SRK Universe—the superstar's biggest global fan club. "We hire a cinema in each city for his film's first show, print T-shirts, and then cut a cake. This time I'm giving wristbands to 50,000 fans worldwide who come for the first show," says Ashraf over a phone conversation, adding that these activities eat up 90% of his earnings.

Obviously, Ashraf's fan club is no ordinary one —it's an empire with branches in 35 countries. Every Sunday he has a virtual general meeting with his counterparts spread over South Asia and Europe to discuss ways in which they can serve their idol better. "Sometimes, I feel like I work for him," admits Ashraf. And he does. Ashraf's biggest ammunition is his ability to constantly keep Khan alive on social media. "Ninety percent of the trends you see on Twitter about SRK are started by us. We have a 'trending army' of about 250 people. The moment I give them a hashtag about SRK, they will start tweeting, and within five minutes it will be trending," he says. Khan is well aware of SRK Universe and often retweets what they put out. Ashraf personally met the star only last year on his 50th birthday. "I was too stunned to talk to him," he says.

In a world where a celebrity's digital presence determines his or her worth as a brand, the power of fan clubs like Ashraf's, with 3,59,000 followers, cannot be taken lightly. Actors today have multiple fan clubs on Twitter and Facebook with followers that run into thousands and lakhs. They doggedly track every tiny development about their beloved star — exclusive photos, videos, and interviews. "Actors like SRK, Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra have a huge digital presence and their fan clubs play a crucial part in that. Along with a manager and publicist, stars also have digital agencies to promote them online. Some of these agencies are hiring fans instead of professionals because they are so invested in the actors. These agencies work closely with fan clubs and keep them informed about important announcements," explains a celebrity manager who didn't want to be named.

"He is a star, but he still replies to every text of mine," says Deepak Suthar of his idol Arjun Kapoor. The commerce student, who runs the Twitter handle Team_Arjun, puts it in plainly: "We do almost everything that the PR is doing, but we don't get paid." He's not complaining. "I want to be like Arjun Kapoor. Losing 65kg is not a small thing. His dedication towards everything he does makes me his fan," he explains. Suthar has been developing a fan base for Kapoor since his debut film Ishaqzaade (2012). "I was the first person to bring all the Arjunzaades — Arjun Kapoor fans — under one roof. So far we've made 50-plus trends on Twitter and made many blogs and videos go viral," he declares.

The hard work hasn't gone unacknowledged. Celebrities go the extra mile to engage with their admirers — a practice initiated by Amitabh Bachchan three decades ago when he began the tradition of meeting fans outside his Juhu bungalow every Sunday. Over the years, Bachchan has cultivated an even deeper rapport with his followers through his personal blog. At last count, he had 20.2 million followers on Twitter.

When Ranveer Singh promotes his films, Falguni Upadhyay too sits up all night posting photos of his appearances. A student of jewellery design, Upadhyay first met the actor soon after the release of Band Baaja Baaraat (2010), when she told him about the FB fan club she had started. "He kept thanking me. He's always hugging people and spreading love. That's the best thing about him," she gushes. Years later, when Singh's team wanted to start an official FB page for the star, they asked Upadhyay if they could merge it with hers. She now runs the Twitter handle RanveerSingh_FC, and is actively invested in promoting the star's work online. Recently, Singh wished another female fan from Oman through a video of him animatedly singing 'Happy Birthday'. The young fan, Moumita Chatterjee, later posted on Facebook — 'Nothing in life has made me dance around the room, scream with joy, cry out of excitement and re-watch the same video a million times.'

Suthar remembers feeling the same on his birthday last year when he met Kapoor at his home in Mumbai — a meeting organized by the actor's manager. "When I entered his home, he came out from his bedroom singing with a cake. I couldn't control my tears," he says. The youngster is now on texting terms with his idol.

There's a clear sense of ownership with which Suthar, Upadhyay and Ashraf speak of their heroes. The proximity they share with actors would have been unimaginable without social media. "In the '60s, I remember writing letters to Shashi Kapoor, Sadhana and Pran and they would respond with a picture and a thank-you letter. Sometimes it would be typed, sometimes handwritten. Pran would insist on writing to everyone. Now nobody writes fan mail anymore," says Dinesh Raheja, editor of Bollywood News Service and author. But Raheja feels the bonds made online are a wonderful thing for genuine admirers.

"If you're a true fan, you should do something real to promote him. You can't just put up news about the star from a website, retweet it, and go back home," says Ashraf, passionately. But what's in it for him? "I can't explain it. I just need to do something for Shah Rukh," he says. His words sound eerily similar to the dialogue mouthed by Gaurav — the character playing Khan's fan in the film— 'Gharwale bhi na mere, samajhte hi nahi hain. Wo sirf star nahin hai, duniya hai meri'.

SRK's Autobiography

Shahrukh Khan Biography – Part 1

Note: This is Shahrukh Khan Biography in his own words. Truly anAutobiography by King Khanhimself. SRK share his personal moments in this biography. Enjoy and share with your friends.

A Legend Is Born

Baby Shahrukh Khan

On 2nd November 1965 a normal occurrence happened at the Talwar Nursing Home in New Delhi. Just like many newborns, I was born with the umbilical cord entangled around my neck. A nurse said that it was by the blessings of Hanuman and that I would be a very lucky child. I don’t know if I believe in it but it is the one thing I was told by my parents about my birth that I remember.

We lived in Rajinder Nagar, I even remember the house number it was F-442. I have vague memories of my playschool, I think it was called Tiny Tots and was right next to our house.

After playschool I began my formal education at St. Columba’s High School, New Delhi. It was near Gole market, run by Irish brothers who believed in discipline and a very high standard of education.

I can recall my first day and the teacher who interviewed me, Mrs. Bala, asked me to tell her what my father’s profession was. And at that point my father had a transportation business, I had seen him dealing with tempos, trucks, etc. I believed anyone having anything to do with vehicles was a driver. So I replied that my dad was a tempo driver. Mrs. Bala told me that I had very cute dimples and then asked me to kiss her. That was my first kiss. Oh yes, and I was admitted to the school.

We were given black and golden stars for our behavior and test results. Five black stars meant lying across Mrs. Bala’s lap and getting spanked three times, I think. Being quite naughty I was spanked a lot. I wish the same treatment was meted out to me even now. Looking back one realizes that what one thought punishment was actually quite pleasurable.

Overall my early years of schooling were quite wonderful. I had my share of spanking, and was often made to stand in the corner with my finger on the lips. I was forced by my teacher to learn how to swim by being thrown into the water and expected to survive with gallons of water in my stomach, eyes and ears. Till date I hate swimming and my teacher for subjecting me to this torture. But all said and done I love all my teachers. They were very kind and sweet. I guess the essence of one’s life is developed during these formative years. And I feel I had the best formative years because of the nice teachers I had.

Here’s to all of them good morning ma’am and thank you ma’am.
Incidents & Accidents

One important turning point in my life occurred because I was very bad in Hindi. I used to get 2 or 3 on 10 and always failed in this subject. Once, my mother told me that if I got full marks in Hindi she would take me to see a Hindi film in the theater. I had never been to a movie hall before. So I stayed up all night and studied my butt off and managed to get full marks and my mother took me to see my first Hindi film, in a theater.

Two things happened because of this incident. One, I became quite the Hindi pundit and later always did very well in Hindi. And secondly, I got the feel for Hindi films. My command over the language helps me immensely to essay my roles in films today. The moral of the story is, if your mom tells you to study hard, do it. You may just become a film star and your education will help you one helluva lot. But if your mother is insisting on anthropology or biochemistry or perhaps aromatic therapy, then ignore her.

I remember sitting on the wall and blowing flying kisses to the schoolgirls passing by. Once a girl came complaining to my dad but my father was sure that it could not be me as I was too young. He made the girl wait so that she could see me and realize that it was the neighbor’s son who was teasing her and not me. But to my father’s embarrassment I walked in without my pants on and on seeing the girl blew her a flying kiss and told my dad that this was my sweetheart. This was the first and last girl I ever made a pass to.
St. Columba’s School

SRK at St. Columba’s School

Right or wrong, east or west, my school is the best. St. Columba’s was a strict disciplinarian school run by Irish brothers. One could not wear the wrong uniform or grow their hair beyond a certain length. Many a times I had to get my hair cut in front of the whole assembly of students early in the morning. The barber used to be from a nearby street-side shop who hadn’t bathed or brushed his teeth. He was as sorry to be there as I was to be sitting on his uncomfortable chair. And before beginning his hack job, he would ask if I wanted a Dharmendra or an Amitabh cut. By the time he was through, I just hoped I didn’t look like a porcupine or a pineapple. My hair never recovered from these frequent attacks. This truly is the secret of my hairstyle, if one can call it that.

I was quite a good student, though I never studied throughout the year. The only time I studied was the night before the exam, when I wouldn’t sleep a wink and go straight for the exam. I did rather well and this gave me the opportunity to do a whole lot of interesting stuff in school.
In School

My favorite soccer stars are Socrates, Pele, Maradona and Mattheus. And I loved Aslam Sher Khan and wanted to be like him and represent the country.

Electronics was my favorite subject at my A levels, and I think I got the highest marks in it when I passed out.

Mathematics was my weakest subject in school and I still have a problem with numbers. So much so if someone tells me a phone number I have to ask for it several times before I can write it down on paper. I even forget my office and residence phone number.

English, and especially Shakespeare, was my other favorite.
Mumtaz

Mumtaz (Actress)

Mumtaz was my absolute favorite. We used to listen to the radio at night and this is when all my dancing abilities were best showcased. One had to just tell me that the song on radio was from a Mumtaz film and I would move 20 frames per second, like the way people move in the old Charlie Chaplin films.

I loved the way she moved her hips. I think nobody in this world can be as beautiful a sight as she used to be. She was sensual, innocent, naughty and very energetic, all at the same time. She was the first personality I mimicked. I loved to walk like her and dance like her.

Usually actors have very important personalities and performers as their idols. Mine was Mumtaz. Not to say that she was unimportant or not special. What I mean is that for a guy she was an unconventional role model. To me she was the single most important cause of my tilt towards anything that had vaguely to do with the performing arts.

My favorite song used to be from a Shammi Kapoor film, Brahmachari. Its lyrics still intrigue me: “Chakke pe chakka, chakke mein gaadi, gaadi pe nikli apni swaari…”Anyone who can explain the meaning of “chakke” to me, please send me an e-mail.

Shahrukh Khan is the latest celeb to fall victim to a death hoax

News of actor Shahrukh Khan’s death spread quickly earlier this week causing concern among fans across the world. However the June 2016 report has now been confirmed as a complete hoax and just the latest in a string of fake celebrity death reports. Thankfully, the actor best known for his roles in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Don 2 or Don is alive and well.

UPDATE 12/06/2016 : This story seems to be false. (read more)

Shahrukh Khan death hoax spreads on Facebook

Rumors of the actor’s alleged demise gained traction on Friday after a ‘R.I.P. Shahrukh Khan’ Facebook page attracted nearly one million of ‘likes’. Those who read the ‘About’ page were given a believable account of the Indian actor’s passing:

“At about 11 a.m. ET on Friday (June 10, 2016), our beloved actor Shahrukh Khan passed away. Shahrukh Khan was born on November 2, 1965 in New Delhi. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page.”

Hundreds of fans immediately started writing their messages of condolence on the Facebook page, expressing their sadness that the talented 50-year-old actor was dead. And as usual, Twittersphere was frenzied over the death hoax.

Where as some trusting fans believed the post, others were immediately skeptical of the report, perhaps learning their lesson from the huge amount of fake death reports emerging about celebrities over recent months. Some pointed out that the news had not been carried on any major Indian network, indicating that it was a fake report, as the death of an actor of Shahrukh Khan's stature would be major news across networks.

A recent poll conducted for the Celebrity Post shows that a large majority (90%) of respondents think those Shahrukh Khan death rumors are not funny anymore.

Shahrukh Khan Death Hoax Dismissed Since Actor Is ‘Alive And Well’

On Saturday (June 11) the actor's reps officially confirmed that Shahrukh Khan is not dead. “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet,” they said.

Some fans have expressed anger at the fake report saying it was reckless, distressing and hurtful to fans of the much loved actor. Others say this shows his extreme popularity across the globe.
