The All India Distribution Rights have been sold to Anil Thadani on commission basis which means no outright sale.
A source within the trade have reiterated and confirmed that Raees is releasing on 26th January 2017 alongside Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil. No postponement from either of them as of now and it is unlikely that the there will be a change inthe dates.
Anil Thadani is the one of the most renowned Solo Distributors (Non – Corporate) in India. He is a trade veteran. He is a highly respectable figure in the trade because of his business acumen. He has distributed lot of films for Dharma as well as T-Series. The Overseas Distribution deal of Raees hasn’t been locked yet although in all likelihood, it would be either Eros or Disney-UTV (Shah Rukh Khan’s Dilwale was Distributed by Disney in the Overseas markets).
A month back, Shah Rukh Khan had interacted with the media on occassion of Eid. The superstar while speaking with the media revealed that Raees got pushed to January as a few sequences are yet to be shot. Khan also revealedthat clashing with Sultan made no sense. He said,
“Raees got postponed because of two reasons. One of the major reason is that it is practically not possible for two big films to clash on the same day and secondly, I got injured while shooting for the film. We are still left to shoot a few portions of the film. I am yet to give the final shot as well.”
The Theatrical Trailer of the film is expected to be out with Dear Zindagi.
Raees stars Shah Rukh Khan, Mahira Khan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and it has been directed by Rahul Dholakia where as the film has been produced by Shah Rukh Khan, Farhan Akthar and Riteish Sidhwani. The film is slated to release in the Republic Day Weekend (26th January 2017).
